Harnessing the Power of Mindset Shifts: A Journey to Self-Discovery

Learning how to harness the power of mindset shifts has been a game changer for my own mental health journey. It helps me remember my true potential, stay in alignment with my goals and get me to handle my sh**, honestly.

First things first, let's dispel some myths about mindset shifts. They're not magic pills or instant fixes; rather, they're tools that we can incorporate into our journey of self-growth and self-discovery. It takes effort, work, and a willingness to try new things, but the payoff can be immense.

One of the key distinctions I want to make before we really dive in; is the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Fixed mindsets are characterized by limiting beliefs and negative thoughts that hold us back from pursuing our goals and dreams. On the other hand, a growth mindset focuses on growth, empowerment, and improvement. You can see the difference in language below. In the first example it is a defeated mentality and the white arrow points to a growth mindset that is tailored to acknowleding you might be feeling stuck now, but it won’t be that way forever and you can take your power back.

Mindset Shifts! A fixed mindset leaves you defeated and keeps you stuck in your current patterns. A growth mindset shows you that you can be empowered to make whatever choice you want.

Challenging Negative Thoughts: A Personal Journey

For me, understanding how to use mindset shifts started with recognizing the patterns and beliefs I held internally. I noticed that leading up to my period, I often struggled with low self-confidence and negative body image thoughts. But by acknowledging these thoughts and their triggers, I was able to challenge them head-on.

It's essential to question the validity of our negative thoughts and beliefs. Are they really true, or are they just ingrained narratives that we've internalized over time? By challenging these thoughts and reframing them with affirmations, we can start to shift our mindset toward a more positive and empowering perspective.

Affirmations

Affirmations have been apart of my growth and development journey and there were some days in my life that saying that affirmation a hundred times a day is what got me through the day. Taking a deep breath and saying that affirmation. I used and well I still do it, when I need to be reminded of my affirmation when I am facing a negative thought I hold my wrist and tap the inside of it with my thumb as I’m saying the words out of my mouth. I ground myself in the moment, and for thirty seconds I just focus on me. For example if you are trying to remind yourself that you are beautiful: I would hold my wrist, tap it each time there was a syllable, and then you do that for as long as it takes to sink in. I do it when I’m in the changing room trying on a new dress. I do it when I’m taking my measurements. I do it before I leave the house. I do it when I need it and that’s what is so amazing about affirmations. Is its your own internal cheerleading system. Because some times are family and friends are not available and you have to be able to self soothe. If you are looking for some affirmations I will be posting them on my instagram and blog as well, but here are a few samples:

  1. I am worthy of love and deserving of happiness

  2. I attract abundance into my life effortlessly and abundantly

  3. I am surrounded by loving and supportive relationships

  4. I am aligned with my purpose, and I live each day with intention and passion.

  5. I am enough, just as I am, and I embrace my uniqueness.

Surrounding Ourselves with Positivity

External influences play a significant role in shaping our mindset, which is why it's essential to surround ourselves with positivity. Whether it's unfollowing social media accounts that make us feel inadequate or distancing ourselves from unsupportive friends, creating a positive environment can fuel our journey of self-discovery.

Embracing Growth and Resilience

Mindset shifts take time and energy, but they're worth the investment. It's about recognizing that our journey of growth and self-discovery is ongoing and that setbacks are a natural part of the process. By reframing our challenges as opportunities for growth and embracing a mindset of resilience, we can unlock our full potential and live a more fulfilling life.

Conclusion: You Can Do Anything

So, whether you're just starting your journey of mindset shifts or you're further along the path, know that you're not alone. You have the power to challenge your negative thoughts, embrace positivity, and cultivate a mindset of growth and resilience. It won't always be easy, but remember: you can do anything.
